DFI - Day One

Core Business: Agenda Day 1, Cohort 2, Christchurch 2019

What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
I gained an understanding of how Manaiakalani came to be by participating in a Google Hangout with Dorothy Burt. It has two parts - pedagogy and digital fluency. They can exist separately, a classroom without 1:1 devices can implement the pedagogy to affect teaching and learning. Digital Fluency will increase learning engagement and outcomes for all children. Learn, Create and Share provides teachers and learners with a structure to engage actively and authentically with learning using digital tools.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
Skills learned today - Explore tool, few shortcuts, reinforced 'voice to type - read/write', Blog Set up - first Blog Post, Working with tables, operating with many tabs

What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
Explore tool, short cuts, need to create LEARN, CREATE, SHARE signage in my classroom.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
Have set up a personal chrome browser, separate from my professional browser.

  1. Hello Tracey, great job on your first blog post! Interesting learning about the 'Learn, Create and Share' model as well and how it gives teachers and learners a tool to engage students. I've found having multiple 'People' tool on Chrome to be very useful, but have in the past mistakenly thought that I had lost all my bookmarks because I was using a different person! Hopefully our workflow and time available for personal life will be more given what we are learning on this course, as well as leaving a lasting impact on the learners we have the opportunity to teach. All the best with the course and your blogging.

  2. Hi Tracey,

Well done on creating your first blog post for 2019! It seems like you're off to a great start and learnt so much already to make your workflow more sufficient with all those shortcuts! Great thinking to have a personal and professional browser.

I look forward to following your journey :)
