DFI - Devices - Day 5

What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

Today we focused on Cyber Smart, empowering Learners to be at home in the digital world and showing yourself in the best light. I wondered about the need for a Cyber Smart Progession teaching programme at our school. Blogger is one of the ways we can teach children to think about their digital footprint and develop smart relationships.

What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?

I was able to pick up many tips to use today!
  • Hapara Dashboard - use of Workspace, link to Blogger and their comments, keeping the Current Screen Tab up on the classroom TV
  • I looked into Workspace, created an activity to share and it was interesting to note that Workspace is more visible than Google Classroom which is how I share with the children in my class now.
  • Use of folders in the drive; need to teach the students to go into the curriculum drive, then create the doc, slide etc. I will teach how to move docs, delete and organise on Friday this week.
  • I'm interested in the Student Dashboard app which may be introducted soon.

What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
  • Screen Castify - This was my first time using. I have created a 'Maths' based video, saved on the drive and have shared with a group using Workspace. Will implement tomorrow at school. Here's hoping!

  1. Hey Tracey,
Great to see you using the reflective questions in your blog. I can see they have really encouraged your thinking and reflection of today's session. I need to start using some thought provoking questions for my reflection next week. Thanks for the inspiration.
    Jess :)
